The long-anticipated, biannual REDO Vintage and Maker’s Market is making its return to Dana Point on April 28 for residents and visitors to shop for unique arts, crafts, and retro goods.

“We do call ourselves a vintage and maker’s market, with a heavy emphasis on the vintage,” said Randy Hild, a founder and producer of REDO Market.

Starting in 2019, the market has sprawled along Del Prado Avenue in Dana Point’s Lantern District. It features a long list of local and other SoCal vendors, attracting hundreds of people to peruse and purchase vintage accessories, clothing, jewelry, paintings, records, and even surfboards.

“Anything these booths plan to sell, we are trying to make sure it is truly vintage by definition of at least 30 years old, and that's really something we try to police,” Hild said. “A lot of people might confuse our market with being an artisan market, which it's really not. We do allow very few artisans, in that we also sell vintage items. But we really try to curate and that's what makes it unique and really special for us every year.”

With 170 vendors set to show up this year, the market offers something for everyone. Some vendors include 1882 Blue Vintage, 5 Star Vintage, Anything Rustic, Asgard Press, Baked Vintage, BeachBreakSteve, Crawford Denim and Vintage Co., Dana Point Historical Society, Gary’s Cameras/Images, Genkai Japanese Antiques, Lucinda Jewelry Handmade & Vintage, Pawn Shop Vintage, Rumbletone Records, Show Your Age Vintage Finds, Tony The Plant Guy, Reclaimed Vintage Lumber & Wood Works, and Vintage Surf/Beach-related items from various sellers.

In addition to the local vendors offering their goods, food from local restaurants and area musicians and bands are set to perform along the street for shoppers to enjoy Dana Point further. Cousins Maine Lobster, Dana Point Ale House, Truly Pizza, and Stillwater Spirits & Sounds are just a few of the food venues participating.

Spread out on three different stages, local musicians will be playing throughout the day. Musicians include Dano Juke Joint, Los Pakalolos, Sidney Brown, Anthony Small, Mojave Ghost, and Randall Winvick. For the first year, there will also be a junior musicians stage that will host younger musicians who are just starting out in the business.

“What grounds us is a surf-centric, surf-, skate-, beach-type music,” said Hild. “That's just the world I come from, and Kurt, my event co-producer and music manager, comes from. We really try to keep it grounded in that, and we do really give priority to locals.”

Stillwater Spirits & Sounds, along with providing food, will be offering music once the day ends. The venue is hosting The Tijuana Dogs that night so the crowds can enjoy food and music after shopping.
