All weekend long, the Ocean Institute will host the annual Tall Ships Festival in the Dana Point Harbor. There will be historic ships, re-enactors, cannon battles, pirate adventures and more.
Friday, Sept. 9
The festival begins with Sails ‘n Ales. From 6-9 p.m. there will be music, activities and a craft beer tasting from five different California breweries.
The Parade of Sail is from 4-7:30 p.m. Participants can join the crew working aboard the ship, or sit back and watch.
Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 10-11
The festival is from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday. Throughout the day, there will be tours on the ships, vendor booths, a Sierra Nevada Beer Garden and activities for the whole family. There are add-on experiences including pirate lessons and mermaid swim encounters.
Cannon battles will be held from 4:30-7:30 p.m.
