Set on Pacific Coast Highway in Dana Point, Tutor and Spunky’s has been serving sandwiches for 20 years. “We’re a part of the landscape,” says owner Tom Blake. “It’s a warm, friendly environment with fresh food and an ocean-view deck.” They have a variety of 37 different subs and sandwiches, many with creative names like “Mercedes Dealer” and “To Be Named Later;” the bestsellers are named after two employees who’ve been with Blake since the beginning—“Rosa’s Best” (turkey, avocado, bacon and provolone) and “Teresa’s Touch” (avocado, provolone and turkey). All are served on your choice of bread, including fresh baguettes, and custom-made sandwiches are offered. Salads, soups, home-style chili, shakes, cookies and bagels round out the menu. The deli also offers an extensive catering menu.
