Deputies were in pursuit of a suspect in Dana Point Friday afternoon when the Orange County Sheriff’s Department helicopter discovered a stolen car, from a separate case, in the area, authorities said.

“A deputy going after a subject with a felony warrant, set up a perimeter and called in the helicopter and a K-9 search,” Lt. Russ Chilton, Dana Point chief of police said. “The suspect escaped the perimeter but while the helicopter was circling, it got a LoJack hit on a stolen vehicle out of Long Beach, parked somewhere in the Harbor.”

As of 2:15 p.m. deputies were on-scene at the Harbor searching for the stolen vehicle, Chilton said.
