After three years elsewhere, the Sabroso Craft Beer, Taco and Music Festival descended on Doheny State Beach for the first time last weekend.

Bands like Sum 41, the Offspring, Lit, Unwritten Law and the heavy-metal mariachi band Metalachi took the stage while craft breweries offered tastings. Guests were able to try gourmet street tacos and watch lucha libre style wrestlers.

Professional eater Takeru Kobayashi took home the top prize at the seventh annual Gringo Bandito Chronic Tacos Challenge, with runner-up Molly Schuyller behind him. Kobayashi ate 159 tacos in 10 minutes, beating his 2015 record of 144.

Mess Hall Canteen was named Best of Show by a panel of judges for their tacos, and Falasophy was named first runner-up, with The Kroft as second runner-up.

A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Doheny State Beach Interpretive Association, a non-profit dedicated to protecting the park’s beaches, facilities, marine refuge and more.
