Registration is officially open for the Ocean Institute’s 2017 Girls in Ocean Science Teen Conference.
The conference is scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 18, 2017 for middle school students and Saturday, March 18 for high school students. Each conference runs from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
The conferences are dedicated to inspiring young women to pursue degrees and careers in sciences. Sixteen scientists from around the country will interact with the girls in a series of hands-on workshops aboard the R/V Sea Explorer and in the Institute’s teaching labs.
The girls will have an opportunity to explore careers in oceanography, marine ecology, astronomy, biochemistry, computer science, museum studies and space exploration.
Registration for the conference is required. Early registration is $49.95/participant, members receive a 10 percent discount, before Feb. 1 for middle school girls, and March 1 for high school students. Prices will increase to $65.
Cost includes a continental breakfast and lunch.
