Sharilyn Kay Varney (Sharie) passed away on March 21, 2016 in Portland, Oregon. She was 78.

Sharie was born on June 11, 1937 to Dorothy Wilson and Loyd Jimmie O’Hara in Spencer, Iowa.  She grew up in Spirit Lake, Iowa. She graduated from Mercy Hospital School of Nursing, Des Moines, Iowa. She married Ralph Zollars, Jr. in December 1958, Spirit Lake, Iowa. They had two children David and Jollene. After Ralph’s death in 1961, Sharie moved to California with her two children.

On September 22, 1962, she married Nathan Varney in Garden Grove, CA. They had two children Michael and Thomas. In 1966, Sharie moved with her family to Dana Point, CA. She worked for the Capistrano Unified School District as a Health Tech.

She is preceded in death by both husbands, Ralph Zollars, Jr. and Nathan Varney; and both of her parents, Dorothy Wilson and James O’Hara.

Sharie in survived by brother, Jim Boehm; her four children, Jollene (Hall), David, Michael and Thomas; and five grandchildren.

Shaire’s Celebration of Life Ceremony will be held on August 1, 1:30 pm, at Harbor Lawn Mortuary in Costa Mesa, CA. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to Autism Speaks.
