Michael Lanzon, who recently opened Fair Dinkum Coffee and Beer Co. within a space shared with Bike Religion, aims to offer Dana Point the opportunity to relax and unwind in a high-quality atmosphere from morning to night.

A life-long coffee enthusiast, Lanzon said that since his childhood, he has been inspired to begin a business where community can come together.

“To be honest, I always loved the show Cheers,” Lanzon laughed. An Australian native, Lanzon has taken his dream international.

“I want Dana Point to be able to come to a place they can connect with,” Lanzon continued. “I want to offer something unique, and first and foremost, offer an environment where people are comfortable coming and spending their time.”

In order to ensure an experience that customers will want to stop and spend not just their money but their time, Lanzon personally trains each of his baristas to guarantee a perfect roast and hand picks local brews, careful to offer a finely tuned quiver of tastes.

Lanzon has also brought in a full-time chef consultant to guarantee a premier food experience.

“Some people do donuts, some people do pastries and they can do them well,” Lanzon explained. “But when you try something like our carnitas breakfast sandwhich where we smoke the meat ourselves, you will know a difference.”

Fair Dinkum Coffee & Brew Co. also offers a finely tuned selection of gluten free and vegetarian options.

Lanzon’s community embracing efforts don’t stop with the menu as he offers an open-invitation bicycle ride on a weekly basis, as well as having begun partnerships with local institutions such as iHeartYoga to bring weekly events such as their famed Bend and Brew; an hour long yoga session followed by a beer.
