A pair of memorial events will be held Saturday, Sept. 5, in memory of Dick McCoy—framer, artist and surfer—who passed away on Aug, 19. He was 63.
At 8 a.m., a paddle out will be held at Blackie’s in Newport Beach. Attendees are invited to gather early to share memories.
And then, from noon to 4 p.m., an art show, in tribute of McCoy’s impact on the art and surf communities, will be held at Open House Creative, 1602 Babcock Street in Costa Mesa.
The show, dubbed “Unframed: Red Vines and Fruit Juice,” will feature art and photography for sale by Charles Adler, Matt Allen, Ray Barbee, Wolfgang Bloch, Art Brewer, Drew Brophy, Austin Brown, Thomas Campbell, Jeff Canham, Harry Daily, Andy Davis, Jeff Divine, Ea Eckerman, Ned Evans, Herbie Fletcher, Herb George, Rob Gilley, Julie Goldstein, JP Greenwood, Nolan Hall, Robb Havassy, Greg Hunt, Greg Jacobs, Christian Jacobs, Jason Kenworthy, Alex Knost, Madsteez, Sharon Marshall, Joanna Miriam, Jason Murray, Mike O’Meally, Chris Ortiz, Skin Phillips, Dave Reddick, Scott Richards, Geoff Rowley, Jorge Salas, Arto Saari, Tom Servais, Andrew Stanbridge, Jon Steele, Gabe Sullivan, Deanna Templeton, Ed Templeton, Steve Valiere, JP Van Swae and Tyler Warren.
McCoy’s favorite snacks, red vines and fruit juice, will be served.
Art sale proceeds will go to Mala Zarr-McCoy.
