On Sunday we drove to the Harbor for a morning walk. In the lot surrounded by commercial businesses (El Torito to The Brig parking lot), we found posted “Valet Parking.” We inquired about this new addition. The vendor told us that he wanted to secure a contract for valet parking and was doing this for free for the time being. His argument was that he could park straighter than most people and move cars around better.
In the 1990s, paid parking was instituted at the Harbor. It was subsequently removed. Local residents don’t want paid parking, and it is my guess neither do they want valet parking. We strongly advise the Harbor management to disallow valet parking.
