Talk radio show “Change is in the Air with Nicole Smith,” with nonprofit organization, Fighting for Me, Inc., are hosting a seaside luncheon and show at the St. Regis Monarch Beach Resort on Saturday, April 30, to raise funds to provide free counseling to sexual abuse survivors and their families.
The event will include guest speakers, live music, interactive art performances and more.
“As a sexual abuse survivor, I know it is very difficult to ask for help after an assault,” said Amanda Zarate, executive director of Fighting for Me. “I’m fighting for free sexual abuse counseling to be the standard of care and I am willing to do the hard work to open every possible location and place them in communities with the most need.”
Special guests include recording artists Christine Alicia, BETH, and professional live art performer John Garcia of John Garcia Urban Art Ministry, who will share his journey from troubled teen graffiti tagger to renowned sports celebrity artist with commissioned works of Kobe Bryant, Magic Johnson, Larry Byrd and many others. Daniel Richins, president of Argosy University, will also share his story of overcoming struggles and how he made it to where he is now. Argosy University’s Psychology Department will have mental health and social worker professionals available to answer questions and provide and onsite information booth.
The event is open to the public.
Early bird $100 pricing ends in April. The first 100 registrants will receive a gift at the door. The St. Regis is offering a 30 percent discount for attendees.
