Volleyball Breaks Through For First League Win

The Dana Hills boys volleyball team swept Laguna Hills in three sets on April 12 to pick up its first South Coast League victory of the season.

The Dolphins (17-8, 1-3 league) entered the match on a two-game losing skid. Dana Hills was scheduled to play Tesoro on April 14. Results were not available at press time. Tesoro entered the match in a tie for first place in league. As of April 13, Tesoro, San Clemente and Trabuco Hills were all tied for first.

Tritons Edge Dolphins Golf in Pivotal Match

The San Clemente boys golf team pulled off a crucial win over Dana Hills on April 11 thanks to its sixth man on the roster. The Tritons and Dolphins were all square 192-192 after a go around on the front nine at Bella Collina Golf Club, prompting a sixth man scorecard tiebreaker. The Tritons sixth man had the lower score and San Clemente was awarded the win.

The win pulled the Tritons even with the Dolphins at the top of the South Coast League standings, and the two will likely share the league title.

Dana Hills continued its solid play with a 191-240 league victory over El Toro at El Niguel Country Club on April 13.

Dana Hills was set to play against the Chargers on April 14. Results were not available at press time.

Softball Falls to Diablos in Extra Innings

The Dana Hills softball team came awfully close to pulling off a major upset in its South Coast League opener against Mission Viejo on April 12. The Dolphins pushed the top-ranked Diablos to the brink and forced extra innings, but Mission Viejo was able to score a walk-off run in the eighth inning to seal a 3-2 win.

The Dolphins outhit the Diablos 7-6 in the contest and tied the game up at 2-2 by scoring two runs in the sixth inning.

Dana Hills had a long layoff due to a spring break and had not played a game since March 31.

Dana Hills was scheduled to host Mira Mesa in a nonleague game on April 14. Results were not available at press time. The Dolphins (10-9, 0-1) will host Aliso Niguel in a league game on April 19.
