Trio of Dolphins Compete at State Track and Field Championships
Seniors Jake Ogden and Mason Coppi and sophomore Jack Landgraf traveled to Clovis to compete in the CIF State Track and Field Championships on June 4. For Ogden and Coppi, two of the more decorated runners in recent Dana Hills history, it would be their final meet as Dolphins.
Ogden competed in the 1,600-meter run, and was near the top of the pack heading into the finals after a fourth-place finish in the prelims. In the event finals, Ogden cut just over five seconds off his prelim time and finished in 4:06.00, good for a fourth-place finish. Ogden was two seconds behind the event winner Isaac Cortes of Great Oak.
Coppi and Landgraf both competed in the 3,200-meter run.
Coppi posted a season-best 3,200-meter time of 8:55.53 in the CIF-SS Masters Meet on May 27, but could replicate the blistering pace at the state meet. Coppi placed 12th at state with a time of 9:07.16. Landgraf took 22nd in the 3,200 with a time of 9:20.78.
