The Ocean Institute will welcome Chris Welsh, chief pilot for Deep Sub LLC, who will offer tours of his deep diving submersible and catamaran mothership on Wednesday, Sept. 30, beginning at 5:30 p.m., followed by a presentation on his work.
Deep Sub LLC operates a deep diving submersible and mothership, capable of going to depths of 36,000 feet. Following the ship and sub tours, Welsh will talk about the sub’s design, dive locations, planned exploration and scientific goals. The objective of his company is to accomplish “Five Dives” to the deepest places in each of the five ocean basins.
