Dana Point’s second annual National Night Out event is scheduled for August 2 with hopes of bringing the community and members of the local police force together.
“National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, better places to live,” said Jill Jackson, Crime Prevention Specialist with Dana Point Police Services.
The event will have resources from the Orange County Sheriff’s Department, including the OC Crime Lab, Bomb Squad, Mounted Unit, K-9 Division Motor Unit and more. The Coast Guard will also be in attendance.
Redneck Rodeo will be providing live entertainment, a BBQ will be provided and activities for kids will be available.
“This event is so special and important for people to attend to help build friendly, open relationships with law enforcement,” Jackson said. “With all the bad going on in the world and in the media, it’s nice to have a fun, lighthearted event to showcase the positive side to law enforcement.”
The event is free and open to the public and will run from 5-8 p.m. at Sea Canyon Park, located at 33093 Santiago Drive in Dana Point.
