Members of Dana Point VFW 9934 proudly stood with Congressman Darrell Issa on Friday as he read from a proclamation for all the hard work the members have done.

The proclamation, from the 49th Congressional District, honored and recognized the work and leadership of the VFW.

“If it’s one thing that VFW stands for, it’s looking out for veterans who need help,” Issa said. “This is to thank you for your service, and your continued service.”

Phil Jimenez, Commander of the VFW, accepted the proclamation and thanked the members for their hard work.

The proclamation will hang with the seven other distinction awards the post has received.

The VFW has more than 600 members and has been in operation since February 1995. For more information about the city’s post, visit vfwpost9934.org.
