At the Dana Point Chamber of Commerce’s annual meeting and chamber installation dinner on Thursday, January 31, Judy Henderson was chosen as the Chamber’s 2012 Citizen of the Year.
Henderson along with Business of the Year awardee, Luciana’s Ristorante, and Ambassador of the Year, Regina McGrath, were honored at Thursday night’s chamber installation dinner and annual meeting at the Laguna Cliff’s Marriott Resort.
Henderson, a 36 year resident of Dana Point, said she has always considered the chamber to be the anchor of Dana Point, long before it was incorporated, which Henderson helped make happen. Over the years, Henderson has been an active volunteer in Dana Point, as a 25-year member and founder of the Dana Point Historical Society, she also helped get Dana Point on the ballot back in 1989.
For more than 25 years, the Luhan family, owners of Luciana’s Ristorante, have recreated the Italian experience for diners in Orange County. With old world classics and innovated twists on the menu, Jorge Luhan II has established Luciana’s as a neighborhood favorite.
The newly elected chamber board is anxious to move forward with their 66th year and supporting the city’s efforts with Town Center revitalization, through the Chamber’s Town Center committee. Last year, the Chamber added both tourism and restaurant committees, the latter of which is headed up by Luhan.
