The South Orange County School of the Arts at Dana Hills High School continues its annual gala tradition celebrating opera, classical music, dance and contemporary art with “Opera Night 2016: Among the Stars,” to be held March 20 at the Soka Performing Arts Center, located at 1 University Circle in Aliso Viejo.
Opera Night is an 11-week educational program created, taught and produced by SOCSA Director Raymond Woods and Opera Night Artistic Director Linda Rose Linnebach. Opera Night is SOCSA’s only educational program open to all area high school-age students. Capistrano Unified School District participants include students from Dana Hills, Capistrano Valley, Tesoro and San Clemente high schools.
The gala reception will begin at 5 p.m., followed by the concert at 7 p.m. Guests will be treated to a pre-show gallery exhibition and silent auction, with entertainment provided by SOCSA’s string quartet. Hors d’oeuvres and wine will be served.
SOCSA will also present Opera Night vocal selections at a preview performance in the Porthole Theater at Dana Hills High School on March 19 at 7 p.m. An encore performance following the Soka Center gala is set for 7 p.m. on March 22 at Casa Romantica, located at 415 Avenida Granada in San Clemente.
