On Nov. 3 at 9:51 a.m. the Bank of America branch located in the 32500 block of Golden Lantern in the Ocean Ranch Shopping Center was robbed according to Sargeant Lynn Koehmstedt of the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Witnesses described the robber a black male in his 20s, under six feet tall with a medium build. He was wearing a white button-up shirt, mirrored sunglasses and a black fedora hat. Surveillance video from the AT&T store across the parking lot from the bank showed the suspect entering the store just before the robbery. A 911 call claiming that a Laguna Niguel branch was being robbed was placed from a display cell phone in an apparent attempt to turn police attention away from the robber’s target. No weapon was seen. The suspect fled on foot to an apartment complex across the street.
In another incident on Oct. 30 at 4:19 p.m., the US Bank inside the Ralph’s store in the same center, was robbed by a white male in his 30s, six feet tall and 210 pounds with a mole/scar on the left side of his lip. He passed a note to the teller but left with it as he fled on foot with nearly $2000 of bait money. No weapon was seen. Attempts to find both suspects were unsuccessful.
Orange County Sheriff’s Department will continue to investigate both cases and follow up on leads.
