Local surf camps are taking reservations for summer
With summer fast approaching now is the time to find a surf camp well suited to your groms’—or your own—list of wave riding wants and needs. Local offerings include lessons, day camps and overnighters structured for every age and ability, from those just learning to surf to more advanced surfers wishing to take their skill to the next level.

DANA POINT
Girl in the Curl Surf Camp (Roxy Surf Camp)

Girl in the Curl has been providing surf instruction for the past 22 years catering to beginners, intermediate and advanced female surfers who prefer to learn surfing in an all girl environment. Group, private lessons or day camps tailored to each individual’s abilities and goals are available. Location: Dana Point, Doheny State Beach Programs: Morning and afternoon sessions, five day camps and private lessons offered.

The Junior Waterman program is designed to have participants fully engaged in ocean activities including surfing, swimming, paddling, stand up paddling, kayaking, jet ski, boat operations, 6-man outrigger canoe, ocean rescues, first aid and plenty more. With over 20 years surfing experience, owner and operator Jonathan Pierce, brings a strong passion for surfing and a love for the ocean. Summer Soul Surf Camp (Billabong Surf Camp, Surfing America Member Surf Camp)

Operated by three-time US longboard champion Josh Baxter and Chris “Uncle B” Barnum, the camp is designed for ages 8-16. Together Baxter and Barnum have over 25 years of surfing experience. Day lessons for all ages are also available. Additional “chill out zone” activities for overnight campers include ping pong, foosball, Indo Boards, painting, guitar, surfboard shaping, ding repair and much more.
