Most popular dish: Two-for-one burgers on Tuesdays
Best known for: Traditional Irish food
Though Dana Point is thousands of miles from Ireland, Hennessey’s Tavern brings Irish flavor to its residents—from traditional Irish decor and entrées like corned beef and cabbage and shepherd’s pie to a wide variety of Irish beers on tap. And since opening its first location 22 years ago in Hermosa Beach, Hennessey’s has grown to 10 locations in California and one in Nevada. The restaurant serves many different specials including two-for-one burgers on Tuesdays where customers can choose from varieties such as the Mexican burger with Ortega chilies, western burger with barbecue sauce and even a veggie burger; Tuesdays also include two-for-one breakfasts. There’s also live music on the patio with fire pits, TVs (including a big screen) showing sporting events and cushy dining booths or bar stools. After hours, the pub turns into a bar where people can sit around and drink a pint of beer or one of the restaurant’s famous bloody marys.
