By Chris Bashaw

A protest was held on September 13 by more than 100 naturists seeking to regain control of the clothing-optional beach, “Trail 7,” at San Onofre State Beach.

“It was a quiet and peaceful day. The rangers never even showed up and there was no opposition or counter protest” said Allen Baylis, President of the naturist group “Friends of San Onofre.”

The protest came in response to the 4rth District Court of Appeals’ decision that the Cahill Policy, a policy that nude sunbathing would “be tolerated until a State Park Peace Officer received a complaint from a member of the public,” is “invalid.”

The ban on nude sunbathing was enacted on September 7 by State Park Peace Officers following the Labor Day weekend, but to date no one has been given a citation.
Trail 7 at San Onofre is listed as the 5th most popular place for naturists to visit. Because of this, Baylis said, the California Department of Parks and Recreation deems that San Onofre is no longer a “remote” destination. “They claim that San Onofre is no longer remote, but remoteness is not stated [as a condition] in the Cahill Policy,” he said.

Friends of San Onofre is appealing to the California Supreme Court to reverse the 4th District Court of Appeals’ ruling. Baylis explained that while the case is still under appeal, it is legal for beachgoers to go unclad as the California Supreme Court has yet to decide whether to hear the case.

To me, being nude is being the same person but in a sensually charged ambience that is very pleasurable. Indeed I prefer being with with my family and other sociable mixed gender naturists in clubs and resorts for all of our recreation or relaxation. My personal best was three weeks vacation at Euronat resort in France, with everything except sandals put away for the entire duration. The strangenes of shirt and shorts to depart there was almost as strange as becoming a naturist many years before. As regards sex-life; being nude together promotes an appreciation of the pleasure that gan be given one to another. Enjoy our clothing free lifestyle!www.naturistspace.org
