Kick off the summer season Doheny-style by celebrating the annual return of the grunion. The Doheny State Beach Grunion Night begins at 10 p.m. Friday, June 5 and includes a nature program and other activities.
Doheny docents Tom and Marilyn Wenzel will be located in Picnic Areas A & B as they present a program on grunion—the little fish that swarm local beaches to lay their eggs in the sand. The program will then move to the beach, where attendees can witness the actual event. The program is free, as is parking in the State Park. The visitor center and aquarium will be open from 8:30 p.m. to 10 p.m.
