At their meeting on Feb. 6, the Dana Point City Council approved the 2018 special events calendar, consisting of more than 85 events, and their recommended venues.

After soliciting competitive bids from four different companies, city staff chose to award Southern California Stage & Lighting with a $38,000 contract to provide quality stage and sound equipment and professional technical staffing for the Festival of Whales and the Concerts in the Park series. One event, the Festival of Whales, will occur next month, and the five summer concert series events will occur next fiscal year.
