CUSD Trustees to Hold Special Meeting Monday

By Jim Shilander

The Capistrano Unified School District Board of Trustees announced Friday that it will hold a special meeting Monday at 6 p.m. to discussion planning for new development at Rancho Mission Viejo.

The agenda indicates that the board will be receiving information on five new “villages” coming in as part of the development, representing approximately 14,000 new homes. This presentation, the agenda states, will be the first in a series of reports about the development and what will be required of the district as the project grows.

The board will be hearing from Dan Kelly, a senior vice-president at Rancho Mission Viejo in charge of government relations, as well as former interim deputy superintendent Tim Holcomb, who is now a principal at Westgroup Management. Holcomb had previously represented the district in negotiations with Rancho Mission Viejo officials.

The meeting will be conducted at the district’s offices in San Juan Capistrano (33122 Valle Road). The board will meet in closed session at 6, with open session to follow, according to the agenda.
