A 44-year-old man is in serious condition at a local hospital following an apparent head-on bicycle collision with a car near the intersection of Camino Capistrano and Pacific Coast Highway Wednesday afternoon.
An Orange County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson said the bicyclist was heading northbound on Pacific Coast Highway and crossed into the southbound lane while continuing northbound, toward Dana Point, when the vehicles collided. The collision occurred at approximately 3:05 p.m.. The officer said that no arrests had been made or citations issued yet.
The identity of the driver and the cyclist have not been released.

Car centric design of this intersection was bound to hurt somebody. Concrete protected wall needs to be extended on BOTH SIDES of st, so that people don’t have to cross dangerously. For 1 new lane of freeway in south OC, every st could be made safe for non-motorized transport!
